Zoila Espinosa spent her early childhood in Mexico.

At age 17 she moved to Sarasota, Florida where she finished
high school and graduated from the State College of Florida in
1976. It was there that she took her first pottery class and
learned hand-building.

After college she moved to Johnson City, Tennessee and
studied hand-building with Brenda Arwood.

Zoila moved to Mountain City in 1999 where she met Caroline
Montague at Sweet Earth Pottery. Zoila tried the wheel and
found that she also enjoyed making pots on the wheel.

Along with Valerie Addicott, Zoila opened a small studio in
Mountain City for a brief period.

Now, Zoila practices hand-building and operates the wheel at
the "Arts of the Fire" studio in the Promenade of the Arts.
