Philosophy

I have always enjoyed the process of “creating art” and in my lifetime that has had many
different meanings. “I don’t necessarily believe I was blessed with a natural artistic talent,
but I do have passion for it.”  If someone is passionate about something, they can learn
to be successful at it.  Several local artists have inspired and guided me, such as Hilda
Miller, Dianne Mize, Jon Houglum and Robin Swaby.  Each of them have challenged,
encouraged and motivated me to follow my love and passion for art.

Medium

I have worked in several mediums trying to find my “niche.”  Although I have experienced
limited success in several mediums, my medium of choice is pastels and oils.  The
beauty of the North Georgia Mountains and its rural setting provides great inspiration
and I enjoy trying to capture its ambience in my paintings.

Personal

In 1994, my husband, Steve and I moved to Rabun Gap, GA after spending many years
vacationing in the area.  We longed to live here and we finally took the leap of faith and
moved here from Florida.  It was a decision we prayerfully made and we have never
looked back!  Between us, Steve and I have three grown sons, three beautiful daughter-
in-laws, and three wonderful grandchildren.  God has blessed us with a very special
blended family.

Affiliations

I have been a member of the North Georgia Arts Guild (NGAG) for over sixteen years.  I
am also a member of the Macon County Art Association (MCAA) and the Art League of
Highlands.  My art work is displayed at the Sautee-Nacoochee Center for the Arts and
the Promenade, Mountain City, GA.  Currently, I serve on the Advisory Board of
Community Pantry as the Volunteer Coordinator.
